Christmas elf Suzie is lost. Can she get back to the North Pole OK?

Christmas elf atop a Christmas tree
Look really close! There’s a Christmas elf on top of a Christmas tree!

As you may remember, my Christmas elf Suzie was lost in Scotland.

She was almost run down by a car and eaten by a wolf.

I left the story at the part where a dog was holding her hat in its teeth.

Suzie was still attached to the hat, and they were all speeding through the countryside in a very fast car.

Would you like to hear more?

Suzie was terrified.  She had never travelled so fast in her life!  She was very glad that she had put her hat on extra tight that morning.  There were lots of bright lights coming up.  They were getting close to a town.  Suzie did not want to be seen by so many people, so she hatched a plan to get away from the dog.

Suzie’s Plan

Suzie had a candy cane in her pocket.  She pulled it out and let the dog sniff it.  The dog immediately let go of the hat and grabbed the candy cane.  Suzie fell to the grass and rolled 673 times.  Elves can really roll.  She wanted to find her way home, but the town had so many bright lights.  She could hear Christmas music too.

Suzie wandered into the town, making sure not to be seen.  There were so many lights on the houses.  Lights of every colour you could imagine.  There were lots of Santas too.  The Santas were decorations.  It was close to Christmas, and everyone had decorated their houses.  Suzie walked with her mouth open.  Everything looked so beautiful.  Then she heard a beautiful sound.  People were singing.

Suzie followed the noise.  It got louder and more beautiful.  In the middle of the town was a Christmas tree.  Around the tree were carollers.  They were singing Christmas carols.  Suzie found a nice place to sit.  It was a soccer ball.  Oh no! Suzie!  Don’t sit on a soccer ball.

Can A Christmas Elf Fly?

It was too late.  Some kids were having a soccer game.  They did not notice that Suzie was sitting on the ball.  A kid kicked the ball as hard as she could, and Suzie flew up in the air.  She tried to flap her arms, but elves can’t fly.  Do you know where she landed?  She landed on the top of the Christmas tree.

Suzie the Christmas elf gripped onto the tree and stayed as still as she could.  People noticed her up there but thought that she was a decoration.  They decided that she was the best Christmas decoration ever.  Suzie watched them all.  Everyone was so happy.  Family and friends were together.  They were singing, eating, and having fun.  It made Suzie miss the North Pole and her elf friends.  She wanted to go home.

Suzie tried to think of a way to get home, but she did not know how.  Then she saw something coming.  It was moving fast.  She could hardly believe it.  It was one of my reindeer.  There were a little boy and girl on the reindeer.  She grabbed the reindeer’s leg as it flew past.  My lucky Christmas elf got home very quickly.  She was glad to be back at the North Pole.

Suzie was the decoration at the top of the tree, but now she is back home there is nothing at the top of the tree. What would you put on the top of that tree?

Santa Claus
