Merry Christmas! Christmas is counting down fast and Mouse is still on her adventure. She’s still trying to find my missing sleigh. Thank you for the help in choosing the right cave. If you chose the one filled with bugs and dirt then well done to you. This is definitely a place where someone who does not like Christmas would live. I would not like to live there. I just love the Christmas Spirit too much!
Mouse mustered all of her bravery. Her courage rose up. Her joy shone through. And with Christmas Spirit filling her heart she walked into the dark cave. At the back of the cave she could see a faint light. As she got closer she saw that it was a small candle. Beside the candle stood the sleigh. And in the sleigh was a small person crying.
“Who are you?” Mouse asked.
The crying stopped.
“I’m Cornelius Griznich,” he answered.
“You stole Santa’s sleigh,” said Mouse, she was getting braver. “He needs that to deliver all of the presents to the boys and girls of the world.”
“I did not know that,” said Cornelius Griznich and started crying again.
“It is okay,” said Mouse. “But why did you do it?”
“I have been watching all of the elves. They all get to make presents. And they get to wrap them. They get to help Santa. And then they get cookies and hot chocolate.” Cornelius Griznich sniffled again and started to cry. “I get nothing! All because I am not an elf.”
“You want to be an elf?” said Mouse.
The Christmas Spirit Lives In Everyone
“Yes,” said Cornelius Griznich, “but I am not. I love Christmas, I really do, but I cannot help because I am not an elf.”
“Well that is just silly,” said Mouse. “You do not need to be an elf to be an elf.”
“What?” said Cornelius Griznich.
“An elf is not what you are, it is who you are. If you love Christmas and Santa then you are as much an elf as I am. Being an elf means you are filled with Christmas Spirit. It does not matter what you look like. It only matters what you feel inside.”
“Really,” said Cornelius Griznich.
“Really,” said Mouse.
Cornelius Griznich smiled for the first time in a long time. Mouse smiled too. Mouse reached out her hand and Cornelius Griznich took it in his. They both smiled together and the Christmas Spirit in both of them grew.
Mouse just got in contact with me to give me this update and she is asking you a question. She wants to know what Christmas Spirit means to you. What is it about Christmas that brings you happiness and makes you feel excited and joyful?

P.S. Which cave should Mouse the Littlest Elf go into? Which cave would be the home to someone who does not like Christmas? Would you rather go into a marshmallow cave or a bugs and dirt cave to find Santa’s missing sleigh? You can click here to tell me or, scroll down to see what other people wrote.
A right jolly old elf, in spite of myself. I love Christmas, children, the North Pole, Mrs. Claus, elves, reindeer, snowmen & the list goes on!
