Merry Christmas! Yesterday, I had some spare time. I was thinking back to last year when I was delivering gifts. I love to fly around the world in my sleigh on my Christmas Eve gift delivery! It is so much fun, and I get to see so many things.
I love it so much that I decided to write a poem about it. I hope you like it.
My Christmas Eve Gift Delivery
– a poem by Santa Claus
My favourite time is Christmas Eve
I put on my coat; I am ready to leave
My sack is full of gifts with bows
Rudolph is ready, and so is his nose
I sit in my sleigh. I smile a smile
‘Goodbye,’ I say. ‘I’ll be gone a while’
‘Haw,’ I call as the reindeer fly
We leave the ground and take to the sky
Off to New Zealand, no hobbits live there
No rings, no gold, and no dragon’s lair
The South Pacific with islands galore
I wish I had more time to explore
Then off I go, where do I stop?
Australia of course, is the next place I hop
Like the hoppity, hoppity kan-kangaroo
To visit a child, a child just like you
Asia is next, the land is so vast
I try to see it all as my sleigh flies past
China is the country where the most people live
Oh, what fun! So many presents to give.
Japan has sushi. India has curry
I will not have time if I do not hurry
On I go to African lands
Nigeria, Kenya, I find golden sands
The food here is great, delicious, amazing
I stop for a rest, among cows who are grazing
Morocco, Botswana, South Africa too
Mali, Ethiopia, and Timbuktu
My next stop is Europe. What a place!
A smile creeps up upon my face
Iceland has ice, but is Greenland green?
Does Turkey have turkeys? What have you seen?
Wales, I am sure, does not have any whales
Does Finland have fins? Or flippers? Or tails?
America is next, the north, then the south
‘Woop!’ I shout as I open my mouth
Canada has geese, beavers, and moose
Or should that be meese, boovers, and goose?
Brazil nuts come from Brazil I am sure
In Chile, the Chilli is purer than pure
Do they make Chilli? Or is chile hilly?
The weather is chilly. No, that sounds too silly
So many countries, I cannot name them all
I will never forget. Not the big. Not the small
I am sorry if yours is not in this rhyme
I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I just don’t have time
But, never you worry, you will not be missed
Your name is always on my list
I’ll keep it there if you follow my advice
Try not to be naughty! Aim to be nice
I love to travel all around the world
Delivering presents to boys and to girls
It really is my favourite day
My favourite day in every way
Christmas eve, I love it, I do
Because I can deliver my gifts to you
