Santa painting – Santa’s newest hobby or a disaster?

Santa painting
The famous Santa painting!

I think you know that the elves at the North Pole are very creative and artistic. They all love to paint and build.  So, I decided to try a little Santa painting as a hobby. I didn’t think it could be that hard.  After all, the elves are always painting!

First I got a piece of paper, then some paint and paint brushes. I grabbed some blue and red paint and squirted it onto my paper. I started to mix the colours with my paint brush. To my surprise it made a beautiful purple.

Then I grabbed some blue and yellow and put it on the top, away from the purple. I blended the blue and yellow and it made a Christmas tree green. One of my favourites! I looked at my piece and thought to myself “It looks good, but it’s missing something.” So I kept painting.

I added more blue, red and yellow and mixed it all together.

Yuck! My painting turned mud brown! “I’m too close to give up now!” I thought.  I knew exactly what I was going to do…

“What do you need help with?” asked the building elves.

“My painting!” I declared as I held it up high for all to see.

“Yuck!” screamed Kissy the Elf, who dropped the ringette stick she was making. “Add more paint!” she said to me. “Maybe some green, oh and some red, and maybe a hint of black.”

So I gave it a try. I added more red and more green and just a hint of black. But my poor painting turned completely black! “I’m too close to give up now!” I thought to myself. So I went to the best painter at the North Pole: Mouse the Littlest Elf!

Santa Painting Tips from Mouse!

“How can I fix my painting, Mouse?” I asked.

Mouse looked up at my painting then said, “Let your Santa painting dry, then get into the Christmas spirit! Be creative! Try not to blend everything as much this time though. Oh and add lots of colour!”

So I took Mouse’s advice. I let my Santa painting dry. Then I grabbed some green, yellow, blue and purple and spread it across the top. Then I got some white and made a moon at the top right corner. I put some white on the bottom too for snow. Then I painted a white polar bear.

I am very happy I took Mouse’s advice.  Now I have a beautiful Santa painting of a polar bear on the snow watching the Northern Lights.

I kept saying “I was too close to give up now”! So I took it straight to Mouse to show her what good advice she gave me. And she took a photo of me holding it to show it to you!
